Welsh winger James impressed American scouts with his own blazing pace to win a move from Swansea last summer.
He transferred £ 15 million to Old Trafford and was joined by Aaron Wan-Bissaka shortly thereafter; but the former Crystal Palace defender does not rank among the top three United speedsters.
Instead, James takes the podium himself, along with Marcus Rashford, although he admitted that he had gone head to toe to race with none of his teammates.
When asked about the fastest Red Devils trio, James replied to the Metro: “It would be me, Diogo [Dalot] and Marcus [Rashford] Said James. “I didn’t see him in the full sprint, we would have a good race, I think.
“Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] is very fast I don’t think people realize how fast it is but [Diogo] is fast. I don’t think you’ve probably seen it as much. ”
Wales boss Ryan Giggs previously praised James as the fastest player he has ever seen, but is currently behind Rashford in the race.
Rashford has not been injured since January, although he has already registered the fastest sprint with a United jersey this season.
The English international reached more than 22 mph in two separate games earlier in the campaign, up close to James, who had regularly reached more than 21 mph.
United shared the statistics released by Opta in November, detailing the time difference in sprints between the two, but James was not convinced.
“I’m not sure,” he wrote on Twitter, tagging Rashford in his response.
Rashford replied, “The statistics don’t lie. “

Dalot has had fewer opportunities to move up a gear, having made only 10 appearances for United this season.
There was some consolation for Wan-Bissaka, as James named him one of the two toughest opponents he had encountered.
“For me, it’s obviously Aaron,” said James at a FIFA Corona Twitch Combat competition. “I don’t think we have seen a lot of players overtake him. “
He also chose Reece James of Chelsea as one of his most difficult battles.
