PARIS, April 8 (Reuters) – The number of people who died from coronavirus infections in French hospitals increased by 8% in one day to reach a cumulative total of 7,632, the director of the public health agency said on Wednesday. Jerome Salomon at a press conference.
But he added that the figures for the day were incomplete as authorities were unable to record data from the nursing homes, which account for more than 30% of total deaths, due to “technical problems”.
The total number of deaths, including figures for Tuesday’s nursing homes, is up 5% to 10,869. (Report by Benoit Van Overstraeten; Editing by Chris Reese)
