BC. Health officials reported 29 new cases of COVID-19 and three other deaths on Saturday.

Provincial health worker Dr. Bonnie Henry said the total number of cases in British Columbia to date is 1,647 and the total number of deaths is 81. The last three deaths have all occurred in institutions long-term care.

Meanwhile, 115 people are hospitalized, including 54 in intensive care. Henry said 987 people are now considered fully recovered.

Cases have been confirmed in all health regions, including 686 in Vancouver Coastal, 680 in Fraser, 97 in Vancouver Island, 150 in Interior and 34 in Northern.

Henry said there were ongoing outbreaks in 20 long-term care and assisted living facilities, and one in an acute care facility. There are 288 cases in the long term care and assisted living system, she said.

An epidemic at Mission Institution now affects 70 people, including 60 detainees.
