COVID-19 deaths in Toronto reach 173, more than 550 in Ontario


The number of deaths from COVID-19 in Toronto rose to 173 on Sunday afternoon, according to the city’s latest count.

There are currently 3,546 cases of coronavirus in the city, of which 3,212 are confirmed and 334 are probable. There are 241 people hospitalized, 95 of whom are in intensive care units.

In addition, 184 people have recovered from the virus.

In Ontario, there were 39 additional virus-related deaths and 568 new cases on Sunday morning, the province said.

This brings the number of deaths across the province to 553 and 10,578 confirmed cases.

Currently, 809 people are hospitalized for this disease and 247 are in intensive care. Most intensive care patients also use a ventilator.

Provincial health officials have reported that 5,209 cases have been resolved.
