COVID-19 cases in Ottawa almost tripled in a week


Ottawa has now surpassed 400 confirmed cases of COVID-19, public health officials said on Tuesday.

There are 33 new confirmed cases in Ottawa and two other patients have been hospitalized.

The city now has 403 cases, up from 144 a week ago.

Among the most recent, there are cases at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus and at Montfort Hospital.

Ottawa Public Health says 101 COVID-19 patients have recovered, which means they have been allowed to stop isolating themselves. This is almost double the 56 reported yesterday.

In Ottawa, six people died from COVID-19.

The wider region of eastern Ontario and western Quebec has now surpassed 725 cases, with a total of 11 deaths. Most other health units in the region do not report how many people have recovered.
