Couple recalled twice, then arrested in Kauai for 14-day quarantine violation

A couple who went to Kauai on Friday were arrested for violating their 14-day quarantine after being notified twice before staying where they stayed.

Emergency quarantine has been put in place in Hawaii to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Adam Schwarze, 36, of Aiea, and Desiree Marvin, 31, of Virginia arrived at Lihue sur Kauai Airport from Oahu and were informed at around 4:00 p.m. to get directly to their accommodation from the airport, according to a preliminary report.

Police arrested the couple and reminded them again of their 14-day quarantine after seeing them go in the opposite direction to their declared accommodation after leaving the airport.

At approximately 6:00 p.m. an officer from the Kauai Police Department observed their unoccupied rental vehicle at Princeville Foodland. The couple were arrested for violating their 14-day quarantine after leaving the store.

They have posted bail but have an imminent appearance date where they can be fined up to $ 5,000 and a year in prison.
