British Summer Time Festival canceled
The British Summer Time Festival has become the last major entertainment event to be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The organizers said that the suppression of the festival in Hyde Park in London was “the only possible result” in the middle of the crisis, adding that “safety always comes first”.
BST was slated to host some of the biggest names in music in July, including Post Malone, Little Mix, Kendrick Lamar, Pearl Jam, Taylor Swift and Duran Duran.
In a statement, the organizers said: “Besides the fact that the government has rightly imposed a prolonged period of social isolation, we would not want to put additional pressure on the emergency services, which we are fortunate to ‘have by our side during our events.
“We have the utmost respect for them and wish to express our admiration for their dedication and professionalism, which is proving so vital at the moment.
“We also have a responsibility to our staff, fans, event organizers, suppliers and sponsors, so we followed all the developments closely before making a final decision.”
