Teachers and families have banded together to derail President Macron’s plans to get the schools out of the lockdown next month, as rebels say they will boycott the reopening to protect their own health.

The parents said they would “civil disobedience” by keeping their children at home in disregard of Mr. Macron’s decision to resume classes after the May 11 lockout ended.

Amid fears of a coronavirus resurgence, teachers’ unions also suggested that their members boycott the planned return to school, opening up the prospect of widespread chaos, while some mayors said they would refuse anyway to open schools in their towns and villages.
