Coronavirus: Donald Trump orders withdrawal of US funding to the World Health Organization

Donald Trump has ordered his administration to temporarily suspend funding from the World Health Organization for its management of the coronavirus pandemic.

The President said he and his government were deeply concerned about whether his generosity had been used to the best advantage by WHO.

At a press conference in the White House, he said the organization had “failed in its basic duty and should be held accountable.”

Trump said the group had promoted China’s “disinformation” about the virus, which likely led to a larger epidemic than it would have happened.

Trump welcomed his response to the coronavirus on Monday at a bizarre press conference in which he showed a campaign-style video produced by the White House and ignored the 22,129 dead in the United States.

The president tried to shame people like the New York Times for questioning his government’s response to the pandemic with a video compilation celebrating his efforts.
