British boxer Anthony Yarde announced that his grandmother had died after contracting a coronavirus, just days after his father died from the pandemic.
Yarde’s father, who the boxer said was “in good shape with no health problems,” died last Friday.
And the 28-year-old lightweight said his grandmother died on Thursday – and called people to stay at home again.
” It is serious! Yarde wrote on social media.
“People still go out when they don’t need it.
“I know there are a lot of opinions about COVID-19 and I have mine but I just know that opinions are not worth risking your life and the lives of others.
” Stay at home. “
Yarde’s next fight was scheduled to take place against fellow British Lyndon Arthur on April 11, but the event was delayed until July 11 due to the pandemic.
Yarde promoter Frank Warren wrote on Twitter: “We are extremely sad to hear that Anthony Yarde has now lost his Nan coronavirus.
“We cannot begin to imagine what Anthony and his family are going through and our sincere condolences go out to them.
“Please listen to his sincere personal call, stay home to save lives. “
