A man who reportedly called a hospital and said “I hope staff die from the coronavirus” has been charged.

Matthew Wain was arrested on Wednesday in an apartment in Perry Barr, Birmingham, in connection with the call to the city hospital, West Midlands police said.

He is also said to have posted a video of the call, “I hope all NHS die” on YouTube.

Wain, 31, was released on bail after being charged with sending threatening or offensive communications.

He is scheduled to appear before the Birmingham County Court on April 29.
