The Florida Department of Health announced that Florida has transmitted 9,000 cases of coronavirus and reached 144 virus-related deaths – including six new COVID-19 deaths in northeast Florida.

In its report on Thursday evening, 9,008 cases of COVID-19 were reported.

Figures include 8,694 Florida residents and 314 non-Florida residents.

In northeast Florida, there are 487 cases of COVID-19.

In Duval County, deaths from the virus fell from four to seven overnight and to nine Thursday evening. A new death has also been reported in Clay County, bringing its total to six.

The figures in the Ministry of Health report are inconsistent. The number of male and female cases often does not correspond to the total number of cases.

In St. Johns County, the age range has changed from 9-91 Wednesday to now 0-91. In his written report, a new case lists a Florida resident in St. Johns with age, 0, and no additional information.

The Florida Department of Health confirmed to the Times-Union that this case referred to an infant. But soon after, the county health department called it a “data entry error.”

In northeast Florida, the youngest case was previously a 5-year-old child. Statewide, there are only 34 registered cases of coronavirus in the 0 to 4 age group.
