Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street reworked the role of Aadi Alahan after actor Zennon Ditchett left the series.
Ditchett first played Dev’s son in 2009, but chose to withdraw from the game late last year in order to focus on his A levels.
Adam Hussain will take over as Aadi, with his first appearance broadcast on Wednesday April 15. The redesign comes as Aadi will play an important role in his twin sister Asha’s next screenplay, which begins later this month.
Asha, played by Tanisha Gorey, will be mortified when sexual images are revealed by her boyfriend Corey Brent to her friends and online. Aadi does his best to help and protect Asha, but is powerless to prevent the images from spreading and damaging her reputation.
The ITV soap opera works with the NSPCC on the screenplay.
“I’m thrilled to play Aadi, giving him my own twist as the character gets involved in an important new story,” said Hussain.
“I was already good friends with Tanisha Gorey before I came out on the street, which helps tremendously to portray the bond between brother and sister.
” Everybody has Coronation Street was very welcoming, bringing me into their family and treating me like one of them. I have always associated Coronation Street with family and friendliness, which is so important right now.
“Having already filmed the beginning of this story before we had to stop production, I look forward to returning to the great team that brings entertainment and joy to the screens of viewers across the country. “
Coronation Street is currently broadcast on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m. on ITV.
