Columbus Blue Jackets sign goalkeeper Joonas Korpisalo for two-year extension

Columbus Blue Jackets signed goalkeeper Joonas Korpisalo to a two-year contract extension with an AAV of $ 2.8 million. He was to become a free agent at the end of the season.

This season, Korpisalo is 19-12-5 with a .911 save percentage, GAA of 2.60 and two shutouts.

He was named to his first NHL All-Star game this season, but missed the event due to a knee injury sustained on December 29.

“Joonas had the opportunity to play many games for us at the start of the season before he was injured and reacted by playing at the star level,” said Kekalainen. “He is a talented young goalkeeper with a great work ethic and the desire to succeed and we are very happy to see his development and improvement continue. “

Korpisalo was drafted in the third round (62nd overall) by the Blue Jackets in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
