CHICAGO (WLS) – New COVID-19 antibody tests will be available to the public at a Chicago facility starting Wednesday morning, the results, if accurate, could play an important role in the recovery of a normal life. The first appointment for antibody testing should start at 9 a.m.

The COVID-19 antibody test is a blood test. This test tent at the corner of Ashland and Fullerton avenues uses Abbott’s serological tests. Tests look for antibodies that may indicate if you have had the virus and may now be immune.

In theory, you would no longer be infected and you would not pose any risk to others.

Health experts say the COVID19 antibody test will provide valuable data about the virus and how it develops in the body, although some experts remain concerned about the inaccurate results.

The samples taken will be analyzed and the results will be ready in two to five days. Insurance is accepted, or you can pay $ 250 out of your pocket.

Some public health officials, infectious disease experts and laboratory owners have sounded the alarm over the neglect of surveillance.
