Chelsea still have the highest case rate in Massachusetts – CBS Boston


BOSTON (CBS) – Massachusetts has released the number of coronavirus cases by city for a third week. As of Wednesday, the state had 60,265 cases.

Boston has the highest total number of cases with 9,284. But other communities have higher rates of infections.

Chelsea has 1,965 cases at a rate of 5,517.10 cases per 100,000 people – by far the highest in the state. It is estimated that 80% of Chelsea residents are essential workers, and thousands of people line up every week for food.

The other cities with a rate higher than 1,730 cases per 100,000 inhabitants – twice the state average – are Brockton (2,783.76), Everett (2,068.55), Lynn (2,037.60), Randolph (1879 , 07), Lawrence (1858.78) and Revere (1843.51).

No figures are reported in cities with fewer than five cases.
