Cesc Fabregas details private discussions with Lionel Messi on the future of the Barcelona star

Cesc Fabregas has opened private conversations with former teammate Lionel Messi regarding Barcelona superstar’s transfer plans.

The future six-time Ballon d’Or winner is a constant source of interest to fans, as many consider him the greatest football player to have ever played – but is now entering the final stages of his career at 32 years.

A break in relations in Barcelona recently gave rise to sensational reports that Messi was to leave the club for Inter Milan or return to Oldell’s Old Boys.

However, Argentine legend denied the rumors in an Instagram post earlier this month, while close friend Fabregas provided a more reliable update regarding Messi’s future.

“I speak with Messi and his idea has always been to end his career in Barcelona,” Fabregas told Spanish radio Cadena Cope.

“A lot can happen in a club but I am sure his career will end at Barça. “

Fabregas rose through the ranks of La Masia Academy in Barcelona before joining Arsenal in 2003 and returning to Camp Nou eight years later.

The World Cup winner has since played for Chelsea and the current Monaco club, but also pointed out that he had “quite a few options” to join Barcelona’s bitter rival Real Madrid earlier in his career.

The Spaniard refused to rule out that one day he could play a coaching role at the Santiago Bernabeu despite his allegiances to the Catalan club. “You can never say never,” he added.

“I know this very clearly. As a player, maybe, but as a coach, it’s different because you can manage 30 teams in your career.

“As a player, the contracts are longer but as a coach, you will probably have a lot more opportunities because they can kick you out after two days. “
