The 25-year-old rapper and model, whose full name was Chynna Rogers, was found dead at her home on Wednesday April 8.
The Philadelphia Department of Public Health said the star died of an accidental drug overdose.
Rogers had struggled with addiction in the past and had openly reflected on it in his music. In an interview in 2017, she said Billboard his mixtape ‘Ninety’ was “very representative of the time I spent using.”
“Much of it was written during the darkest moments of my opioid use,” she said. “I have seen sides of me that I would never have seen otherwise. It is not sides that are particularly good, but sides that you have to see to know what you are capable of. After I turned it off, I was struck by many children and even other artists and friends who originally did not feel comfortable admitting that they were going through the same things. “
Rogers manager John Miller confirmed his death to the press on Wednesday. “Unfortunately, I can confirm that Chynna died,” he wrote in an email release. “Chynna was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. “
After the announcement of his death, stars in the music and entertainment world paid tribute to the rapper. “Chynna, you were a fucking hilarious brother,” Kehlani wrote. “Today was our last exchange of jokes and the ones I will miss the most. I can’t believe it works. I love you. So much. “
