Carol Vorderman donated her private plane “Mildred” to help transport personal protective equipment to NHS personnel during the coronavirus crisis.

The television personality, 59, has shared a selection of pictures of herself with the N242CV aircraft over the years and revealed that her current job is to help the NHS.

Carol wrote on Twitter: “My Mildred and I (my plane N242CV) have had adventures.

“BUT I want to tell you that right now it is used by the amazing folks at @BAESystemsAir to transport PPE to where our NHS need it across the country … #GoMildred #NHSThankYou. “

In addition to donating her plane to help with the coronavirus effort, Carol also helped by launching math classes for kids.

As a child, Carol wanted to be an RAF pilot, but was unable to join her as a woman, sending her into an engineering career before becoming a television favorite in the 1980s.

In 2014, she became the first woman to be appointed Honorary Air Cadet Ambassador.

Carol, a qualified private pilot, was unveiled at the time as the only female ambassador group captain in the history of flight organization.

In 2018, the star donned his honorary captain’s uniform to mark 100 years since the Royal Air Force began during a special service held at Westminster Abbey.

The former Countdown star called on the show via videoconference to announce his new children’s lessons, adding that there would also be an adult session on which Piers made a cheeky remark.

Earlier, Carol explained that The Maths Factor will now be free for all elementary school children, and will be for the foreseeable future.
