Captain Tom Moore became the oldest person to have a # 1 single after his song with Michael Ball reached the top of the British charts.

The record was previously held by Tom Jones, who reached No. 1 with [Barry] Islands In The Stream was 68 years old in 2006, 32 years younger than Tom.

Captain Tom, who captured the heart of the nation with his bid for the National Health Service fundraiser, will remain in first place when he celebrates his 100th birthday on April 30 next week.
