Since the government announced the lockdown of B&Q stores across the country, they have remained closed to customers.

Instead, those wishing to make a purchase had to use the retailer’s Click & Collect service.

However, this morning, the DIY retailer announced that it would reopen 14 stores, two of which today. The 14 stores are expected to open in the coming days.

Click & Collect will no longer be available in the two stores already open, but branches will be open to customers from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., reports the Daily Star.

Looking at the reopening of the list, the closest store to Liverpool is the B&Q branch in Chester.

The stores that opened today are based in Paisley and West Thurrock, with 12 more openings this week.

A B&Q spokesperson said, “As with shopping in a supermarket, we have introduced social distancing controls in these reopened stores.

“We strictly limit the number of customers in the store at any time. Customers may therefore need to queue before entering the store.

“To help remind everyone to respect their personal space, we have two-meter floor markers in all of these stores and Plexiglas screens at checkouts. “

Services such as kitchen and bathroom design, paint mixing, wood cutting and key cutting are not available.

The spokesperson added, “We urge all customers to follow government guidelines on social distancing and to only responsibly shop for what is necessary.”

“These 12 additional stores are not currently offering Click & Collect as they are being opened to provide the best possible service while maintaining social distance for colleagues and customers.

“They will open once the preparations are finished. “

The 12 other stores that will open are:

  • Culverhouse Cross in Cardiff
  • Chester
  • Brandon Road in Coventry
  • Fareham
  • Gillingham
  • Ipswich
  • Infant
  • Plymouth
  • Stockport
  • Sutton in Ashfield
  • Watford
  • Hull Road in York
