Bill and Melinda Gates buy $ 43 million luxury beach house in Del Mar, California

The billionaire philanthropists Bill and Melinda gates bought an exquisite beach house outside of San Diego, spending $ 43 million on a oceanfront mansion in the coastal town of Del Mar, California. The staggering purchase price makes it one of the largest sales in the region’s history.

The luxurious six-bedroom, four-bathroom, 5,800-square-foot home was sold to the Gates family by Madeleine Pickens, former wife of the billionaire oil baron T. Boone Pickens, according to the Wall Street Journal. The house originally landed on the market for $ 48 million in January 2019.

The waterfront property was built by the architect and designer Ken Ronchetti in 1999. According to the details of the inscription, the house is well known as a landmark of the city and is considered “one of the most important contemporary coastal beach houses on the west coast”.

The elegant residence comes with 120 feet of private ocean frontage.

Large windows through the living spaces open onto the back patio, providing a seamless flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The large patio also offers impressive views of the Pacific Ocean.

Rich wooden ceilings throughout the house evoke the feeling of being on an island, and the magnificent swimming pool invites you, if the owners wish to take a break in the salt water of the ocean.

This beach house is the latest addition to the portfolio of fabulous residences from former Microsoft CEO.

The family’s main residence is a complex in Medina, WA, and they also own equestrian property in Rancho Santa Fee, California, which they bought several years ago for $ 18 million from Jenny Craig, founder of the weight loss program.

The family’s love for horses also inspired the purchase in 2016 of a large lot in Wellington, Florida, the equestrian capital of the Sunshine State.

Gates, 64, recently made the headlines about a conspiracy theory that falsely claimed he was involved in the spread of COVID-19.

While this has no basis in fact, the multibillionaire, who turned his attention to philanthropy a few decades ago, donated $ 250 million to fight the virus.
