But now actor Tony Maudsley, 52, has a new role as it has been revealed that he joined the cast on Coronation Street as the son of the late Archie Shuttleworth.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tony’s debut in Manchester soap has been postponed until the lockout ends.

The actor went to Twitter on Sunday to confirm the good news and told fans that he couldn’t be happier with his new game.

Next to a photo of a press clipping about his role, he wrote: “Yes, I can indeed confirm that it is true. I am thrilled to stay in my @itv house and head to Weatherfield and I, for my part, could not be happier.

“As a longtime fan of @itvcorrie, I am delighted to join the cast of my favorite show. Here is the next exciting chapter. ‘
