Beaver Co. Nursing Home assuming 800 residents and staff have coronavirus – CBS Pittsburgh

BEAVER COUNTY, Pennsylvania (KDKA) – A Beaver County nursing home operates on the assumption that all of their staff and patients are already positive for coronavirus.

According to a Brighton Rehabilitation & Wellness Center press release, they say all staff and patients will be treated as if they already have the virus.

They take these alleged positive steps to protect everyone.

Over the weekend, a retirement home union representative reported that at least 42 of the 450 patients who lived there were positive and three died. The union says 10 of the more than 300 workers tested positive.

Last night, the nursing home discussed with the Ministry of Health and they decided to no longer count the results of the tests there. They will isolate and aggressively treat anyone with symptoms.

They believe this will allow everyone to be more protected from any asymptomatic person.

Staff use N95 masks and other protective equipment to keep them safe, as they now assume that almost 800 people living or working in the facility have the virus.

KDKA contacted the employees’ union, which is expected to have a statement later today.
