Sagna spent seven years in the UAE between 2007 and 2014 and played alongside current boss Arteta.
Arteta was brought into the Manchester City club – where he was an assistant to Pep Guardiola – after a dismal campaign start under Unai Emery.
And Sagna says the change he has made so far in the canoe is obvious.
When asked if Arteta could lead the Gunners to the glory of the Premier League, the Frenchman told Goal: “I think so.
“Leicester did it and no one expected it, but they had a great team spirit and fought in every game. “
“Arsenal can do it too, because if you face Arsenal, it’s always difficult because of the way they move and play.
” I think so [Arteta’s appointment] was a great choice because it has personality.
“If he is not happy with a player, he will go directly to them and tell them that they are out of the team and that they will have to work to return.
“If you look at the team, even the team spirit has changed. Whether it’s running or following, they’re like animals.
“Everyone criticized [Shkodran] Mustafi and David Luiz, but Mikel has changed the way he defends.
“Maybe he gave them more confidence, a little more love, I don’t know what he did but he changed something.
“It is because he has a strong mind and a strong attitude. He’s someone charismatic. When he stands on the pitch, he sends a message to his players. He shows real leadership. “
