Arsenal “envisages an exchange of Alexandre Lacazette” for Thomas Partey of Atletico Madrid

Arsenal would be willing to offer Alexandre Lacazette in partial exchange for Thomas Partey of Atletico Madrid.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is desperately looking to take down this midfielder who is valued at £ 50m this summer, and has made him his main transfer target.

Atletico does not wish to sell Partey, however, and should offer him an extension of its current contract, which will last another three years.

They want to tie the 25-year-old at least until 2025, as well as strengthen his release clause to ward off outside interests.

But The Sun reports that Arsenal will try to test the Spanish club’s resolution first, by proposing a swap deal involving Lacazette.

The Atleti are looking for an attacker and are longtime admirers of the Frenchman.

The move could also appeal to Lacazette, as the 28-year-old struggles to maintain a regular starting spot for Arsenal.

Much could depend on the evolution of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, with a contractual situation still uncertain.

Arsenal are unlikely to allow both their captain and Lacazette to leave the club, although Arteta remains confident that he can retain Aubameyang’s services.

This would pave the way for Lacazette to leave the club, even if he still has two years left on his contract.

Atletico is also keeping an eye on PSG veteran Edinson Cavani, who will be a free agent this summer.

In addition to targeting Partey, Arsenal is also in talks with the French club Stade de Reims regarding central defender Axel Disasi.

Arteta once saw the 22-year-old’s approach pushed back in December after being impressed with the youngsters’ performances in Ligue 1 this season.

Reims is resigned to losing Disasi, who is out of contract in 2021, and they are ready to take advantage of him this summer, provided that Arsenal can meet its £ 15m valuation.
