Apple has just given millions of users a reason to abandon their iPhones

Apple has already revealed the IPhone 12 tent upgrade, but it’s not a good reason to drop your current iPhone in the fall. Why? Because Apple just gave you a better reason to do it now.

Apple has just been announced IPhone SE 2020 is a wolf disguised as a sheep. Look closely and it’s not at all a spiritual successor to the 4-inch iPhone SE, it’s the sequel to the premium iPhone 8 with the heart rate of an iPhone 11 Pro Max and it’s the smartphone the most profitable Apple has ever released. Let’s break it down:

What you earn

Big savings – At only $ 399 for 64 GB ($ 449 / $ 549 for 128/256 GB), the iPhone SE 2020 is astonishingly valuable. That is why:

Peak performance – the new iPhone SE delivers the performance of the iPhone 11 Pro Max for a third of the cost because it is powered by the same Apple A13 chipset. It also means your budget will be faster than any flagship Android phone released this year, which is really remarkable.

Longevity – The A13 chipset doesn’t just unlock dazzling performance, it offers something equal: durability. Apple will support this device for as long as the iPhone 11 series and, based on history, it ranges from 4 to 6 years. However, Samsung supports its Galaxy S20 Ultra for $ 1,400 for only two years of software updates. Add next-generation WiFi 6 support and it’s a phone that will last.

Quality camera – Apple is bragging that the iPhone SE will offer the “best single camera system in an iPhone.” It’s again thanks to the A13 chip which brings Portrait shots, portrait lighting effects and depth control with 4K video at 60 frames per second – what Google Pixel 4 cannot do. .

Actual portability – the design can be dated by modern standards, but the 4.7-inch screen on the iPhone SE makes it Apple’s most portable smartphone. It is also 40g lighter than an iPhone 11 Pro and almost 80g lighter than an iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Practical aspect: large glasses may not be pretty, but they offer much more protection than edge-to-edge glass. The Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the iPhone SE is faster and works better at a time when many of us are wearing masks. There is also a double water resistance sim (physical + esim) and IP67.

What you lose

It will never win it all with an iPhone at $ 399, so here’s where you miss:

Battery life – As the table below shows, the new iPhone SE does not match the latest iPhone 11 range for endurance and it does not come with an 18 W fast charger. That said, it should always allow for a full day while supporting wireless charging and fast charging if you want to purchase these accessories later.

Advanced features: iPhone SE does not have 5G, Face ID, LiDAR, U1 chip, or zoom / ultra-wide cameras. Deal with these issues in order: 5G will take years to roll out widely and kill battery life, Face ID (see above), LiDAR is an incredible technology but it will still take time to establish and the U1 chip remains a niche feature, despite Apple exciting CarKey plans. When it comes to additional cameras, most of the time you can just get in / out.

In summary, unless you have the money to spend, you can’t go wrong with the iPhone SE 2020. In fact, I think Apple was only wrong with this phone: the name. Logically, it is an iPhone 9, but this poses problems for future generations. I had just gone with ‘iPhone’.

That aside, there has never been a better (or cheaper) time to abandon your current iPhone. Many will still opt for the iPhone 12 range (with reason), but smart money in 2020 will be spent thinking small.
