You spend your days eating Doritos and drinking Dr Pepper, wearing the same gigantic sweatshirt and watching friends. If you’re living life again like you’re 12 years old again, you might as well take a moment and enjoy the Broadway musical that you enjoyed the most at that age: The Phantom of the Opera. On Friday, the Royal Albert Hall in London, staging Andrew Lloyd Webber’s twelfth wildest musical, with Ramin Karimloo, Sierra Boggess and Hadley Fraser, was broadcast live on the YouTube channel “The Shows Must Go On By Webber for the benefit of the Actors Fund.
“In these unprecedented times, charities continue to make heroic efforts to help those affected by COVID-19,” begins the video. “The Actors Fund is providing emergency financial assistance to help cover the cost of essential drugs and the basic living expenses of those affected.” You can also find donation links for Caring for Others, Broadway Cares and other arts nonprofits here.
So go ahead. Light about a million dripping candles, throw the cover of your gondola from the basement and enjoy the music of the night. But be sure to enjoy the night music this weekend, because due to copyright restrictions, the Ghost the video will be removed after 48 hours.
