Liverpool’s hopes of signing Alessandro Bastoni may already be over, long before the summer window opens.
With Dejan Lovren apparently heading for Anfield’s exit door after another season stuck on the bench like a whelk on a rock, Jurgen Klopp and co scour the market for a promising defensive talent to add to their starred team.
And, according to Passione Inter, Liverpool has identified Bastoni as a potential option with fabulous Frenchman Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig and Atletico Madrid Uruguayan warrior Jose Maria Gimenez also on their radar.
But it looks like their options have gone from three to two.

Speaking to Inter fans on a question and answer session on Instagram, Bastoni, 20, made it clear that he will be going nowhere this summer.
“I’ve always said it is a dream come true for me to wear this shirt,” said a man who moved to San Siro d’Atalanta in 2017. “I bonded with all of my teammates and my current roommate is [Milan] Skriniar. Inter is my home. “
“I care about this club and I want to win things here. In 10 years, I still see myself at Inter, with a few trophies in the cabinet and perhaps as captain. “

Liverpool’s chances of putting this deal on hold until 2030 seem rather slim. The Reds need a new center half this summer and, if Bastoni plans to spend the next decade in blue and black, Premier League leaders should cut their losses now and focus on alternatives.
With the BILD signaling that Upamecano could file a transfer request to force a removal from Leipzig, the Bundesliga central may be the way to go.
