during 9-1-1 Season 3, Episode 16 (titled “The One”)
That Got Away “), Evan” Buck “Buckley finds himself face to face with what could be his future.
After an unexpected meeting, he sees what he could become in a few years if he
does not make any changes. Here’s why we care about Buck.

Buck performs an incredible act of heroism after jumping out of a window to save a deaf woman from a burning building. At one point, the rope he uses to save the woman catches fire. However, he acts quickly and jumps safely with the woman before the rope breaks and the building ignites. Buck’s feat is filmed and he does the evening news.

Buck decides to go to the bar and celebrate his success, but
his friends at the fire station have plans with their partners. That means he will have to
celebrate alone. It’s not all lost because Buck meets Red, a retired firefighter,
with lots of stories to tell. Things are going well until Buck decides to meddle with
Red’s life. After Buck learns that Red has no more friends or family and the wife he
loved one has run away, he is trying to intervene. Buck seeks the woman and reunites
them, but things deteriorate quickly.

It turns out that Red’s lost love suffers from dementia. At first, his meeting with the woman goes well, and they speak of ancient times. However, her memory begins to fade and she suddenly does not remember who she is talking to. She is afraid and tells Red and Buck to leave his house. It devastates Red, and he asks Buck to leave him alone.

Later in the episode, Red asked Buck to come to the hospital after falling ill (he died of mesothelioma). Buck agrees and stays with Red while he’s in the hospital. Red dies shortly after his release.

Is Buck destined to die alone, like Red? Like Red, he had an unsuccessful romantic relationship. He was dating 911 dispatcher Abby Clarke (Connie Britton), but their relationship ended after she decided to move to Ireland. Buck envisioned a long-distance relationship, but later decided to oppose it. At one point, Buck’s sister Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) left.

Buck talks to Maddie about his fears. He fears that he
end up like Red because he’s so absorbed in his job and he doesn’t have much
time for something else. Although Maddie says he is different from Red because he
he is still unsure of his future.

Is there another chance for Abby and Buck?

Next week, Abby will return to 9-1-1. We don’t know if
Britton is just a guest star or will her character be back for good. Is she
return a sign Abby and Buck are going to come together and give love another shot? Despite
their age difference (Abby is a little older than Buck), they seem to be working
together as a couple.

One thing is clear, Buck is not happy to be alone. he
loves his job as a firefighter, but he also wants to have a relationship. Abby
could be that, but their paths went in different ways. Hope buck will
get happiness forever.
