The Lions have selected Ohio cornerback Jeff Okudah with the number 3 pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The CBS Sports NFL Draft team breaks down the pick below, including a note for choice, how it affects fantastic leagues and more on Okudah, including its strengths and weaknesses, its NFL membership and more.
3. Detroit Lions: B
Pete Prisco: I think they should have taken Derrick Brown. If in doubt, take the big guy. I don’t think you can pass on great people who play like Derrick Brown.
Fantastic impact
Dave Richard: The Lions’ rush is still suspect, but their high school gets a good boost with Jeff Okudah of Ohio State. It is worthy of choice – a day 1 starter with the right size, speed and wingspan. He played a lot of men for the Buckeyes and was not beaten often. If he is as good as his pedigree suggests, he could become a cornerback that the offenders are afraid to throw. That would mean he wouldn’t see a lot of stats, which would make him a handicap in Fantasy. I would not put it at the top of my list in the IDP leagues, nor do I think it particularly helps DST Lions to become a workable option in Fantasy.
