16-year-old girl falls dead from eighth-floor balcony in London


A 16-year-old girl died after falling from an eighth floor balcony in south-east London, police said.

Officers were called to Thurston Road in Lewisham shortly after 2 p.m. on Easter Sunday following reports that a person had fallen from a height.

The London Ambulance Service, the London Fire Brigade and the London Ambulance Air, which landed in a nearby Sports Direct parking lot, were present, but the girl was pronounced dead on the scene.

The death is considered not suspicious and the close relatives of the victim have been informed.

A Met police spokesperson said, “A 16-year-old girl at the scene fell from the balcony of a residential building. The injured girl was declared dead at 3:26 p.m.
