DETROIT - Sources close to Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions confirmed to Local 4 Bernie Smilovitz that trade negotiations for the quarterback have been underway for several weeks.
Kelly, Stafford’s wife, posted her Instagram account saying that if her husband were to be traded, he would be interested in a destination in California.
The Los Angeles Chargers bid farewell to quarterback Philip Rivers last week.
Stafford played 11 seasons with the Lions, starting in 2009. He was the first choice in the NFL draft that same year.
He has led Honolulu Blue to 69 wins, three playoff appearances and holds numerous NFL and franchise records, including being the quickest player to reach 40,000 yards.
