Undermined by forty years of war, Kabul today ranks among the most dangerous cities in the world. Robbery, racketeering, kidnappings, robberies: not a day goes by without its share of wounded and killed … Recently, the death of a modest student, stabbed for his laptop – the only valuable asset he possessed – , created a great indignation. Since then, the police have increased their presence on the streets of the Afghan capital, but the institution, deemed to be corrupt and understaffed, is struggling to reassure residents who demand justice and security.
